Heirlooms

We've been working on the family's genealogy for the past year. As part of that project, we've begun taking pictures of family heirlooms and the stories behind them. Although not of any great value, these bottles brought back memories of my childhood and early marriage. Do you know what they were for?Answer: Many years ago before no-iron clothing, clothes were wrinkled once washed and dried. In order to iron them without creases, bottles were filled with water and you would sprinkle your clothes that were to be ironed. (You could purchase a sprinkler head that would fit in the top of the bottle.) After sprinkling your clothes you would roll them up, place them in a plastic bag and then put them in the refrigerator until ready to be ironed. Voila, no wrinkles! This seems rather silly in today's world, but it worked!
