Our dogwood has gotten its fall berries. I love their shape and colors. They almost look like something out of a science fiction movie. I watched the other day as my resident chipmunk set out to feast on the berries that had fallen to the ground. He was followed by the birds who also seem to enjoy the feast. Nothing is wasted. In a few short weeks all evidence will have disappeared. Of course next spring the tree will be in full bloom and once more we'll be able to sit and watch it in all its glory.
Welcome to Sweetbrier Cottage! You might say that Sweetbrier Cottage is a metaphor for all the good things in life. It’s relaxing atmosphere, warm colors, antiques and collectibles invite you to sit down, have a cup of tea and enjoy a good book or conversation.
With life's stresses, it’s important to have a place, that “special retreat,” to rest and gather your thoughts. Retreats come in many forms – a room, a porch, a garden or even a garage. If you don’t already have a retreat, create one! It only takes a few special touches to make that room or porch your special place. The cottage’s hosts look forward to your visits.

Ooh, those berries are very pretty! I never looked at dogwood berries before. I guess I only notice the trees in spring when they are in flower.

The Dogwood was my Mothers favorite tree. I think of her every time I see one.
